Job Description
InnoLight Technology Research Institute (ITRI) is a newly founded research organization of InnoLight Technology Ltd. Its mission is to drive InnoLight’s technology pipeline, deliver breakthrough technologies, and create new opportunities to fuel InnoLight's growth. This includes identifying and exploring compelling new technologies and demonstrating first-to-market technologies and innovative new usages for optical interconnect and communication applications. ITRI engages the leading experts in academia and industry in addition to partnering closely with InnoLight product R&D teams.
With focus on advanced opto-electronic technologies for ultra-compact large bandwidth optical transceivers for various markets including telecom, datacom, wireless networking and high-performance computing, we are seeking an outstanding research director. This technical leader will lead a cross-functional team, with full scope technology development and management responsibilities including technology IP and prototype development of advanced photonic devices, photonic ICs and optical transceiver modules; driving government funded research project applications and deliveries; technology roadmap and standardization; and evangelizing InnoLight technology and products to both scientific and commercial communities. In addition, the candidate needs to demonstrate collaboration capabilities and a track record to work with partner organizations within and outside the company.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a PhD in photonics, EE, physics and/or engineering or equivalent fields and have at least ten years of experience in the photonics field including silicon photonics, III/V semiconductor lasers and optical transceivers. Demonstrated success in innovative new technology development, and working effectively with a broad array of diverse constituents including opto-electronic devices, circuits and integration is required. Demonstrated analytical skills in research, development and translation to pre-commercial and commercial products as well as persuasive interpersonal, oral and written communication proficiency and experience with strategic planning, project and program management are also required skill sets. Direct experience in co-packaged optical module technology is a plus.
The accomplished individual will have demonstrated success in an existing technical leader role and have a history of accomplishments that demonstrate outstanding results in the following areas:
· Technical expertise: Recognized expert with product experiences in semiconductor lasers, Si photonics, and optical transceiver integration. Demonstrated photonic expertise realized through leading positions driving the advanced technologies development from vision, concept to demonstration.
· People Management: Successful leader experience in competitive environments. Capable of creating a collaborative team spirit across direct and matrixed staff. Has examples of direct staff mentored, managed or coached who achieve career leaps as a result.
