InnoLight Technology Research Institute (ITRI) is a newly founded research organization of InnoLight Technology Ltd. Its mission is to conduct advanced technology research to drive InnoLight’s technology pipeline, deliver breakthrough technologies, and create new opportunities to fuel InnoLight's growth. This includes identifying and exploring compelling new technologies, and demonstrating first-to-market technologies and innovative new usages for optical interconnect and communication applications. ITRI engages with leading experts in both academia and industry in addition to partnering closely with InnoLight product R&D teams.
Following the development trend of optical communications and InnoLight’s future product roadmap with the mission to enhance InnoLight’s future core competence, and catering to the market demands of the information optoelectronics field including optical interconnects in data centers, 5G wireless communications, next generation optical communication networks, intelligent sensing, etc., ITRI will focus on new optoelectronic chip technologies and advanced 3D packaging to carry out research on new materials, new processes, new devices and new technical platforms that are essential for super-high-speed, super-high-bandwidth, super-low-power, super-compact, and super-reliable (5S) optical communication modules and systems in the future. Particularly, ITRI engages in core technology fields such as ultra-high speed optoelectronic devices, high density silicon photonic chips, dynamic, flexible and intelligent optical interconnect technologies and systems, etc. ITRI will further explore and try to expand the applications of information optoelectronics in new fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology and 3D sensing based on high-performance photonic devices, chips and advanced optoelectronic integrated platforms.

A well-known expert in fiber optical communications, optical interconnects, semiconductor laser, photonic switching, and silicon photonics, Dr. Zheng has more than 25 years of successful experience in leading technology research and product development in the field of optoelectronics. He is a senior member of the International Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), and a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA Fellow). He has served as an outstanding engineer of Sun / Oracle laboratory, Director of Photon Technology of Oracle Network Division, and CTO of Axalume and a few other companies.

Dr. Wang previously worked at MTS, Lucent Technologies(US) and then served as the Technical Director of Changfei Optical Fiber Cable (Shanghai) Company. Dr. Wang joined InnoLight Technology in 2008 and he was awarded as innovative talented individual from the Jiangsu Province. Dr. Wang has 20 years of experience in the optical communications industry and he is now the deputy Director of ITRI.

Mr. Du joined InnoLight Technology in July 2011. He successively worked at the departments of R&D, engineering and product management, completed the design of 40G / 100G / 400G parallel single-mode products and the corresponding volume productions. He also established a packaging platform for multi-channel single-mode coupling, and realized automated production. He is experienced in product roadmap planning and strategic marketing. Mr. Du is familiar with product lifetime management as well as process flow of new product developments, and he has rich experience in development and commercialization of optoelectronic device technologies .

Dr. Teng interned at Mitsubishi Electric Research Lab in 2017, then he worked at imec as PhotonicsIC Researcher since 2018. Dr. Teng joined innolight in 2020. His technical experience is mainly targeted at passive device design and validation on Si/SiN platforms as well as foundry PDK development.

Jin Guofan was born in Shenyang in 1929 and graduated from the Department of Mechanics of Peking University. He has been working at Tsinghua University since 1950. He was the Executive Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Commission, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Deputy Director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Vice President of China Instrument and Control Society, Chief Editor of Chinese Journal of Scientific Instrument, Chairman of the Asia Pacific Instrument and Control Society, Deputy Director of the Electronic Instrument Department of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Dean of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University, etc. He was successively elected as the Vice Chairman of International Commission for Optics (ICO), respectively in 2002 and 2005.

Prof. Guo is currently a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (Fellow, IOP), member of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, Vice Chairman of the Quantum Cryptography Committee of Chinese Association for Cryptology Research, Vice Chairman of the Quantum Electronics and Optoelectronics Branch of the Chinese Electronic Society, member of the Chinese Committee of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) and Chairman of the Electronics and Photonics Committee, and Assistant Chairman of the IEEE Photonics Society. He has conducted more than 20 national, provincial and ministerial research projects, and has published more than 200 academic papers in international and domestic core journals (including more than 150 SCI papers).

He has been in charge of and participated in more than 20 research projects sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key R&D Program of China. He has five academic publications and one translated work, and has published more than 200 papers in SCI journals such as IEEE Trans.

Mainly engaged in microwave photonics, microwave integrated circuits and high-speed photonic integrated devices and systems. Professor Zhu has conducted a number of national research projects, including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, “863” Major Project, “973” Project, NSFC Major International cooperation, NSFC Key Projects, NSFC Innovation Group Project, NFC Major Projects, 863 Subject Projects, etc. He has published 155 SCI / EI papers, two monographs and 46 patents. In 2004, he became a member of the first batch of national talents in Thousands to Millions of Talents of the New Century Project. He is now a member of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education of Broadband Optical Fiber Transmission and Communication Network Technology (University of Electronic Science and Technology of China) and the State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Wave (City University of Hong Kong), as well as a member of the expert evaluation group of NSFC.
